About us

We have been friends since we can remember, spending our childhood at Ali'i beach park looking for shells and catching waves. Our friendship has always been at the core of Benoa.

In 2013 the idea of Benoa was started in Indies room - a piece of paper, a pencil and a dream. Starting a bikini company had always been in the back of our minds but at 15 it felt like a far away dream - Luna started to draw anyways - 13 pieces on a a piece of paper that eventually found itself framed in our warehouse.

In 2014 when our first line came in, our friends and aunties showed up to buy them. Benoa didn’t make it out of the starting phases because it was great, or a game changer. It worked because of our community- Small knit, proud, loving and supportive, a reflection of the community it has grown into today.

In 2015 we added colors and later prints and we were off, taking this little dream as something we could seriously do. By 2019 all of our prints became hand drawn in house by Luna and the level of joy and excitement that Benoa brought us had ten folded.

Benoa took turns living in each of our childhood rooms, later into a room in a house we rented together, its own studio, and eventually to where we are now.

Over the years our team has grown from the two girls who started it to an all woman team who make it all happen. From the tippy top of manufacturing - we are entirely woman ran.

We are so grateful for this journey and everyone who has been part of it. We will always be FOR, OF and TO; Women who inspire us.
